A Case of Gerstmann´s Syndrome

Abstract

|
A shrewd and original communication by Josef Gerstmann in 1924 virtually
started a new chapter in the history of parietal symptomatology.
Gerstmann´s syndrome consists of finger agnosia, right-left disorientation,￢acalculia and agraphia. It signifies a focal lesion localized to the junctional area of cortex between the angular gyrus and the second occipital convolution of the dominant cerebral hemisphere.
We present a case of 33 years old male who developed Gerstmann´s syndrome probably due to vascular insufficiency. He was treated with cerebf al vasodilater, circulation facilitator and steroid with good result.
